What to expect at an Aquarium Society of Victoria meeting
Our meetings are generall held on the last Friday of the Month in 2023 there will be meetings in January, April, May, June, July, September and November, and 8 December. Fish fairs and the annual fish show take place in the other months. Doors open at about 7:30pm and proceedings begin at 8pm. Do come early so you can check out the offerings on the trading table. This is also a good time to chat with other members who are always happy to share knowledge and experience. Don’t forget to sign-in the visitors book to have a chance at the door prize.
Meetings generally begin with a welcome by the President followed by announcements and housekeeping. The door prize is drawn and we play a game of Flash-a-Fish. A series of photos of fish from the same genus are displayed on screen and you have to guess the correct fish based on the scientific name of the species. A short break after this allows time for more chatting with members.
After the break a guest speaker will give a short presentation. We have had many very interesting guests in the past covering a range of aquarium related topics.
Supper is served after the meeting which concludes at about 10pm.

Victoria Betta
Victoria Betta is a club of fish keeping hobbyists that specialise in keeping all variations of Betta Splendens. Victoria Betta is apart of the International Betta Congress (IBC) and we run our group as a subset of the Aquarium Society of Victoria (ASofV).
Our club meet regularly to share knowledge, show our betta, learn more about fish keeping, breeding techniques and philosophies employed by other members. It's a friendly, inclusive group and welcome visitors to come along to a meeting or show event to see what it's all about.
